McDonald’s used the name “McDonald’s PlayPlace” for its children’s indoor play areas.
PlayPlaces became part of McDonald’s family-oriented restaurant branding, providing climbing structures, slides, and other play equipment at selected locations. The name connected the physical play area directly to the McDonald’s brand rather than treating it as an unrelated attraction.
The concept helped reinforce McDonald’s positioning as a destination for families. Restaurant layouts, equipment, and availability differed by country and location, so not every McDonald’s restaurant had a PlayPlace. Some sites later removed or remodeled the structures as restaurant formats and customer expectations changed.
PlayPlace is also easy to confuse with competing restaurant play areas, especially Burger King’s Kids Club-related facilities and other fast-food playgrounds. The branded name “McDonald’s PlayPlace” identifies McDonald’s own play-area concept.
