Arch Deluxe was the product name of McDonald’s premium hamburger launched in 1996.
McDonald’s positioned the Arch Deluxe as a more sophisticated alternative to its traditional burger offerings. Its marketing targeted adults and emphasized a special sauce, a potato-flour bun, lettuce, tomato, onion, and other ingredients intended to support a more upscale image.
The campaign was unusually large and expensive, with advertising designed to distinguish the Arch Deluxe from McDonald’s family-oriented reputation. Despite that investment, the product did not achieve the expected level of success and was eventually discontinued in many markets.
The Arch Deluxe is often confused with the Big N’ Tasty, another McDonald’s burger introduced later. Both were positioned as premium or more substantial menu choices, but the Arch Deluxe belongs specifically to the 1996 branding campaign and is remembered as an ambitious attempt to broaden McDonald’s audience.
