Which McDonald's mascot was a police officer in the McDonaldland advertising universe?

Officer Big Mac was the police-officer mascot in McDonaldland. His name and design connected the character to McDonald's Big Mac sandwich while giving the fictional world a law-enforcement figure.

He appeared among the setting's larger cast, which included Mayor McCheese, Captain Crook, the Hamburglar, Grimace, and Birdie the Early Bird. These characters were used together in commercials and promotional material to create recurring stories around McDonald's products.

Officer Big Mac is frequently confused with Captain Crook, who was another McDonaldland character. Captain Crook had a pirate identity, whereas Officer Big Mac represented the local police role. The distinction matters because both characters belonged to the same advertising universe and appeared during overlapping periods.
