Which McDonald’s character was a green, Irish-themed mascot for the Shamrock Shake?

Uncle O’Grimacey was McDonald’s green, Irish-themed mascot for the Shamrock Shake.

The character was presented as Grimace’s uncle and appeared in seasonal advertising connected with the green mint-flavored shake. His name and appearance drew on stereotypical Irish imagery, including green clothing and a large orange beard.

Uncle O’Grimacey belonged to the broader McDonaldland character family, but his role was narrower than Ronald McDonald’s. He was mainly associated with the annual Shamrock Shake promotion rather than with McDonald’s entire menu.

He is sometimes confused with Grimace, the purple character whose original advertising role was linked to stealing milkshakes. Uncle O’Grimacey was a separate character and was specifically tied to the Shamrock Shake campaign.
