Answer
Kick Out the Jams
MC5’s live debut album released in 1969 was *Kick Out the Jams*.
*Kick Out the Jams* was released by Elektra Records in February 1969 as the debut album of Detroit band MC5, whose name shortened “Motor City Five.” Unlike a typical studio debut, it captured the group live at Detroit’s Grande Ballroom over two nights, October 30 and 31, 1968.
The record preserves MC5’s confrontational, high-volume performance style, with singer Rob Tyner and guitarists Wayne Kramer and Fred “Sonic” Smith at its center. Its combination of garage rock, political energy and sonic aggression made it an important precursor to punk, even though punk rock had not yet become a widely established label.
The album also became famous for controversy surrounding the uncensored profanity in its title-track introduction. Hudson’s department stores refused to stock it, and Elektra eventually dropped the band. The other choices are albums by different artists or later MC5 releases.
