Which Mario Party game is the only one released for the Wii U?

The story behind the answer

Mario Party 10 is the only Mario Party game released for the Wii U.

Released in 2015, Mario Party 10 was the tenth home-console installment in the series and was developed by NDcube. It used the Wii U GamePad for special features, most notably Bowser Party, in which one player controlled Bowser while the other players formed Team Mario. The game also introduced Amiibo Party, which incorporated compatible figures into its board-game setup.

The Wii U had a relatively short commercial lifespan, and Mario Party 10 remained the series’ sole dedicated Mario Party release for the system. Earlier entries such as Mario Party 8 and Mario Party 9 appeared on the Wii, while Super Mario Party was made for Nintendo Switch several years later.

Mario Party 10 also continued the shared-vehicle board design introduced by Mario Party 9, so players traveled together rather than moving separately around the board. Its Bowser Party mode provided the clearest Wii U-specific hook by assigning unique gameplay responsibilities to the GamePad player. The title sold more than two million copies, making it one of the better-selling games on the Wii U despite the console’s limited install base.
