What is the main mode in Mario Party: Star Rush where all four players start as colored Toads?

The story behind the answer

Toad Scramble is the main mode in Mario Party: Star Rush where all four players start as colored Toads.

Released for Nintendo 3DS in 2016, Star Rush changes the traditional Mario Party formula by having players move simultaneously around non-linear, grid-like boards rather than taking turns in a fixed sequence. In Toad Scramble, each player controls a differently colored Toad and races around the board while recruiting Mario characters as computer-controlled allies.

Allies are more than decoration: they provide extra dice and help players during boss battles. Players compete to collect Stars, usually by finishing first in those battles, and Coin Balloons trigger minigames that can award coins. The mode therefore combines racing, exploration, recruitment, and the series’ familiar minigame contests.

Coinathlon, Mario Shuffle, and Balloon Bash are separate modes. Coinathlon focuses on repeated minigames and lap racing, Mario Shuffle is a smaller tactical contest, and Balloon Bash is the mode most similar to a traditional Mario Party board game.
