Toyota won the 2023 WRC manufacturers’ championship. More precisely, Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT secured the title for Toyota, successfully defending the manufacturers’ crown during the Rally Chile.
The 2023 FIA World Rally Championship was the series’ 51st season. Toyota entered Rally1 cars including the GR Yaris Rally1, while Hyundai competed with the i20 N Rally1 and M-Sport represented Ford with the Puma Rally1. Only manufacturers competing with eligible Rally1 cars could score manufacturers’ championship points.
Toyota’s title was built through a strong season from crews including Kalle Rovanperä and Jonne Halttunen, Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin, and Sébastien Ogier and Vincent Landais. Toyota also won several individual rallies, including Monte Carlo, Mexico, Croatia, Portugal, Kenya, Estonia, Greece and Japan.
The manufacturers’ championship is separate from the drivers’ championship. Rovanperä won the drivers’ title in 2023, but the question asks which manufacturer won the team-based competition. Toyota’s result marked its third consecutive manufacturers’ championship, following its titles in 2021 and 2022.
