Toyota won five straight Le Mans races from 2018 through 2022.
Toyota’s run began with the TS050 Hybrid in 2018, when Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima and Fernando Alonso took the overall victory. The same driver trio repeated the achievement in 2019, while Toyota won again in 2020 with a TS050 Hybrid. In 2021 and 2022, the manufacturer continued its streak with the GR010 Hybrid, as the race moved into the Hypercar era.
The five victories were especially significant because Toyota had endured several painful near-misses before finally winning in 2018. The 2016 race is remembered for a late failure while Toyota was leading, and the 2018 result ended the manufacturer’s long wait for an overall triumph.
Toyota’s streak is easy to confuse with other manufacturer records. Audi also had a five-win consecutive run, while Porsche has the highest overall total. Toyota’s 2018–2022 sequence nevertheless stands as one of the defining modern dynasties at Le Mans.
