Quidditch is the magical sport central to the Hogwarts world created by J.K. Rowling.
In the books, two teams of seven players compete on flying broomsticks. Chasers try to score with the Quaffle, Beaters protect their teammates and redirect Bludgers, and the Seeker attempts to catch the Golden Snitch.
The sport is played at Hogwarts and in professional wizarding leagues. Harry becomes Gryffindor’s Seeker, making Quidditch an important part of his school life and a recurring setting for rivalry, teamwork, and school tradition.
Quidditch Through the Ages, a companion book credited to the fictional author Kennilworthy Whisp, was published in 2001. It is distinct from the main novels and from real-world adaptations of the sport created by fans and later renamed in some places.
