Which luxury group is Balenciaga's parent company?
Answer
Kering
Answer
Kering
Balenciaga’s parent company is Kering.
Kering is the French luxury-goods group that owns Balenciaga. The brand entered the Gucci Group’s corporate family in 2001, when the group acquired a controlling stake. Gucci Group was itself owned by Pinault Printemps Redoute, later renamed PPR and then Kering in 2013.
Balenciaga therefore sits alongside other major luxury houses associated with Kering, including Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, and Boucheron. The group provides corporate ownership and resources, while Balenciaga retains its own creative identity, collections, stores, and brand direction.
The most common mix-up is LVMH, another major French luxury conglomerate that owns houses such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Givenchy. Chanel and Richemont are also independent luxury groups, but neither is Balenciaga’s parent. Kering acquired the brand after its revival in the late 1980s and has owned it since 2001.
