Kyogre’s awakening provides the rain needed to free Onix in Pokémon Pokopia.
The story first links rain to Slowpoke, whose yawns summon a brief rainfall after Ditto finds it. That rain is not enough to solve the problem, but it awakens Kyogre from its resting place at the bottom of the sea.
With Kyogre’s help, a proper rainstorm is summoned. The softened rock then allows Ditto to free an Onix trapped inside a cave, turning the Legendary Pokémon’s appearance into a key step in the early story.
Kyogre is sometimes confused with other Legendary Pokémon associated with weather, especially Groudon and Rayquaza. In Pokopia, however, the rain sequence specifically involves Slowpoke first and Kyogre afterward. Befriending Kyogre also raises Ditto’s Pokédex Trainer rank enough to open two new areas.
