Kyogre awakens after Slowpoke’s yawns summon rain in Pokémon Pokopia.
The sequence begins when Ditto encounters an Onix trapped behind rock in a cave. Professor Tangrowth explains that rain might soften the obstruction, but the area has not experienced rain for years. Ditto therefore seeks a Slowpoke, whose yawns are said to summon rainfall.
Slowpoke’s first rainfall is too brief to solve the problem, but it is enough to awaken Kyogre from its resting place at the bottom of the sea. After Ditto befriends Kyogre, the Legendary Pokémon helps summon a proper rainstorm, allowing Onix to be freed.
This event also advances the story. Befriending Kyogre raises Ditto’s Trainer rank enough to open the gates to Bleak Beach and Rocky Ridges. Kyogre is sometimes confused with Groudon because both are major Legendary Pokémon connected with weather, but Kyogre is the one linked to rain and the sea in this Pokopia story.
