Which legendary bird is associated with ice?

The story behind the answer

Articuno is the legendary bird associated with ice. It is an Ice/Flying-type Legendary Pokémon known for freezing the air with its wings and creating snowstorms.

Articuno is one member of the original Legendary bird trio from the first-generation Pokémon games. The other two are Zapdos, associated with electricity and lightning, and Moltres, associated with fire. In Pokémon Red, Green, and Blue, Articuno can be found in the Seafoam Islands, a frigid cave system near the southern part of Kanto.

Its name combines “arctic” with “uno,” the Spanish word for one. The naming pattern continues with Zapdos, using “dos” for two, and Moltres, using “tres” for three. This numbering reflects the trio’s order in the Pokédex.

Articuno is sometimes confused with Galarian Articuno, a later regional form that is Psychic/Flying rather than Ice/Flying. Despite sharing the name, the Galarian form has a different appearance, typing, and abilities.
