Which league is Madden NFL 27 based on?

Madden NFL 27 is based on the National Football League. The NFL supplies the real-world competition, teams, players, rules, and branding that the game recreates.

That licensing relationship is why Madden NFL 27 can present recognizable NFL rosters and league structures instead of generic teams. The game’s football terminology, schedules, uniforms, stadiums, and presentation are designed around the American professional league.

A common mix-up is confusing the NFL with college football, which has different rules, teams, and eligibility structures. Madden NFL 27 is the professional NFL simulation; EA’s separate College Football series covers the college game. The two series can connect through features such as importing a College Football 27 Road to Glory athlete into Madden Superstar.
