Which Lamborghini model was the first to feature a V10 engine?
Answer
Lamborghini Gallardo
Answer
Lamborghini Gallardo
The Lamborghini Gallardo was the first Lamborghini production model to feature a V10 engine. Introduced in 2003, it brought Lamborghini’s ten-cylinder layout to a more compact and accessible sports car positioned below the company’s V12 flagship models.
The Gallardo’s original engine was a 5.0-liter, 90-degree V10 producing about 500 metric horsepower. Later versions received a 5.2-liter V10, including the LP 560-4 and the lightweight LP 570-4 Superleggera. The engine was developed for Lamborghini after Audi and the Volkswagen Group acquired the company, and the Gallardo shared important engineering links with the Audi R8.
The Gallardo is occasionally confused with the Huracán because the Huracán also uses a 5.2-liter V10. The Huracán, however, arrived in 2014 as the Gallardo’s successor. The Diablo was powered by V12 engines, and the Urus uses a twin-turbocharged V8. With 14,022 cars built between 2003 and 2013, the Gallardo became Lamborghini’s best-selling model at the time and established the V10 as a defining part of the brand’s modern history.
