Which Lamborghini model is often called the world's first supercar?

The story behind the answer

Which Lamborghini model is often called the world's first supercar? The answer is the Lamborghini Miura.

Introduced in 1966, the Miura transformed expectations for a road-going performance car. Its sleek body was designed by Marcello Gandini at Bertone, while engineers Giampaolo Dallara, Paolo Stanzani, and Bob Wallace developed its distinctive transverse rear-mid-engine layout. The car used Lamborghini's powerful V12 and was capable of exceptionally high performance for its era.

The Miura was not literally the first fast or exotic car ever made, so “world's first supercar” is a widely used historical label rather than a precise legal definition. It earned that reputation by combining racing-inspired engineering, dramatic styling, and everyday road-car production. The prototype chassis appeared at the 1965 Turin Motor Show, and the completed P400 debuted at Geneva in 1966.

Production ran from 1966 to 1973, with the Countach becoming its successor. The later P400S and P400 SV versions added power and refinement.
