The knight known as “The Bold” who joins Daenerys in season 3 of Game of Thrones is Barristan Selmy. After Robert Baratheon’s death, Barristan continues serving as Lord Commander of the Kingsguard under Joffrey. He is dismissed when the new regime replaces him with Sandor Clegane, the Hound.
