Dezolve helped arrange portions of Mario Kart World’s music.
The collaboration was notable because Nintendo brought in external composers for parts of the score, including members of the Japanese jazz-fusion band Dezolve. Their involvement added musicians from outside Nintendo’s usual internal music team to the game’s soundtrack production.
The score also received instrumental overdubs from Satoshi Bandoh and Masato Honda of T-Square. That separate contribution is why Dezolve and T-Square are easy to mix up when discussing the game’s music credits.
Mario Kart World’s soundtrack combines newly arranged themes from across the Mario franchise with dynamic transitions. The music team created intros and outros that help the score flow between environments during continuous modes such as Knockout Tour.
