Which Japanese designer created the BAPE character Baby Milo?

The story behind the answer

Nigo created the BAPE character Baby Milo.

Baby Milo is a cartoon ape character associated with A Bathing Ape, the Japanese streetwear label founded by Nigo. The character became a recurring graphic on T-shirts, hoodies, toys and accessories, giving BAPE a playful mascot alongside its camouflage patterns and shark designs.

Nigo built BAPE by combining Japanese pop-culture references with limited production, striking graphics and carefully controlled retail distribution. Baby Milo helped the label appeal to audiences interested in collectible characters as well as clothing.

Baby Milo is not the same visual identity as BAPE’s full-head ape logo, often called the Ape Head. The two motifs are related to the same brand but serve different graphic roles. Nigo later became known for other fashion and creative projects, but Baby Milo remains specifically tied to BAPE’s product and collaboration history.
