Versace partnered with H&M for a collection released in November 2011.
The collaboration brought Versace's recognizable use of vivid colors, bold prints, metallic details, and Greek-key motifs to H&M stores and its online channels. Donatella Versace, the fashion house's creative leader at the time, oversaw the collection's distinctive visual direction.
This partnership is often mixed up with H&M's collaborations with Italian labels such as Marni and Moschino. Those were separate projects released in different years. The Versace collection was also notable because it included home furnishings, not only clothing and accessories.
The project formed part of H&M's continuing designer-collaboration program, which had begun with Karl Lagerfeld in 2004. These limited releases were designed to create excitement by combining a famous fashion name with H&M's broad retail reach.
