Which Israeli exchange traces its origins to the Securities Exchange founded in Tel Aviv in 1935?

The story behind the answer

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange traces its origins to the Securities Exchange founded in Tel Aviv in 1935.

Before Israel’s independence, the Anglo-Palestine Bank helped establish an organized securities market for companies and investors in the Yishuv. That early exchange operated in Tel Aviv and provided a formal venue for trading securities.

After the State of Israel was established in 1948, the market continued developing. The modern Tel Aviv Stock Exchange was established in 1953 and later moved toward computerized trading and broader financial products.

The exchange is commonly abbreviated TASE. Its history therefore includes both the 1935 predecessor and the 1953 establishment of the modern exchange, a distinction that can cause confusion.
