Which island is the largest of the Cayman Islands?

The story behind the answer

The largest island of the Cayman Islands is Grand Cayman.

Grand Cayman is the biggest and most populous island in the Cayman Islands, a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean. It contains George Town, the territory’s capital, and most of the population, tourism infrastructure and financial activity.

The two smaller main islands are Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. Grand Cayman is relatively low and flat, with coral-derived limestone landscapes, mangrove wetlands and famous beaches such as Seven Mile Beach.

The island’s name can cause confusion because “Cayman Islands” refers to the whole territory, not just Grand Cayman. Grand Cayman is the largest individual island, while the territory comprises an archipelago of three principal islands and smaller islets.
