Which Caribbean island is home to Nevis Peak, a dormant stratovolcano?

The story behind the answer

Nevis Peak, a dormant stratovolcano, is located on the Caribbean island of Nevis.

Nevis is one of the two islands forming the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, with Saint Kitts lying just across The Narrows. The island is nearly circular and is dominated by the forested volcanic cone of Nevis Peak, which rises to about 985 metres (3,232 feet).

Nevis Peak has not recorded a historical eruption, but its volcanic structure and geothermal activity show that it is not an extinct volcano. The summit is often surrounded by cloud, and steep trails lead through tropical vegetation toward the peak. Because the upper slopes can be wet and slippery, climbing conditions vary considerably.

Nevis is sometimes confused with the separate island nation of Saint Kitts and Nevis as a whole. The country’s name refers to both islands, while Nevis itself is the smaller southern island. Its main settlement and administrative centre is Charlestown, on the west coast.
