Which island is the home of the Eagle Bearer in Assassin's Creed Odyssey?

The story behind the answer

Kefalonia is the home island of the Eagle Bearer in Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

The game opens on Kefalonia, where the player character lives as a mercenary before becoming involved in the Peloponnesian War and the wider conflict surrounding the Cult of Kosmos. Players may choose Kassandra or Alexios, but both versions begin their journey on the same Ionian island.

Kefalonia is part of the Ionian Islands, west of mainland Greece. Odyssey uses it as an early exploration area before opening a much larger map that includes Athens, Sparta, the Aegean Sea, and numerous Greek islands.

The island is sometimes confused with Ithaca, which appears elsewhere in the game and is associated with Odysseus in Greek mythology. Odyssey is set in 431 BCE, during the early phase of the Peloponnesian War, and is earlier than Origins in the fictional chronology of the main games.
