Trinidad is home to Mount Aripo, the highest point in the twin-island country of Trinidad and Tobago.
Mount Aripo rises to about 940 metres in the Northern Range of Trinidad. The summit lies within a mountainous region of rainforest, steep ridges, and cloud-forest habitats. The Northern Range forms the island’s principal highland zone and is also important for watersheds and biodiversity.
Although Tobago has dramatic mountains, its highest summit is Pigeon Peak, which is lower than Mount Aripo. This distinction matters because Trinidad and Tobago is one country but consists of two major islands with separate geographic high points.
Mount Aripo is part of the wider Aripo Massif, an area known for rich plant and animal life. The Northern Range also contains the Asa Wright Nature Centre, a well-known birding destination, though the center is not located on the summit itself.
