Monaco is the smallest country to host a Formula One Grand Prix. The Monaco Grand Prix is held on a temporary street circuit through Monte Carlo and La Condamine.
The race was first held in 1929 and became part of the Formula One World Championship in 1950. Its narrow streets, elevation changes and limited overtaking make it one of the sport’s most distinctive events.
Singapore and Bahrain also host Formula One races in compact countries, but both have much larger territories than Monaco. The Monaco circuit is famous for passing landmarks, including the harbour, Casino Square and the Fairmont hairpin.
