Which Irish broadcaster airs the Irish version of the television format Dragons' Den?

The story behind the answer

RTÉ airs the Irish version of the television format Dragons' Den.

The Irish programme is produced for Raidió Teilifís Éireann, Ireland’s national public-service broadcaster. It follows the familiar format in which entrepreneurs present companies or products to investors and negotiate for finance and an ownership stake.

The Irish edition premiered in 2009 and became part of RTÉ’s factual-entertainment schedule. It is distinct from the British BBC series even though both programmes use the same broad international format and the same “dragons” terminology.

Viewers sometimes confuse RTÉ with TG4 because both are Irish broadcasters, but the Dragons' Den franchise is associated with RTÉ. TV3, now known as Virgin Media Television, is also a separate commercial broadcaster and does not identify the Irish series’ original home. The Irish adaptation has its own panel, presenters and entrepreneurs.
