Which Iranian stock exchange was established in Tehran in 1967?
Answer
Tehran Stock Exchange
Answer
Tehran Stock Exchange
The Tehran Stock Exchange was established in Tehran in 1967.
It opened on 4 February 1967, initially listing a small number of securities. The exchange expanded as Iran’s economy and capital-market institutions developed, although its history includes periods of disruption connected with the 1979 Iranian Revolution and the Iran–Iraq War.
The market later broadened beyond ordinary shares to include participation certificates, bonds, and other instruments. Its main benchmark is the TEDPIX, short for Tehran Exchange Dividend Price Index, which reflects both price movements and dividends.
The Tehran Stock Exchange is distinct from Iran Fara Bourse, a separate over-the-counter market established later. Both belong to Iran’s wider securities-market system, but they are not interchangeable names.
