Deborah Meaden joined the British Dragons' Den panel in series 3 and became one of the programme's longest-serving Dragons.
Meaden is an English businesswoman and investor best known for her direct questioning, commercial experience and interest in consumer businesses. Her first appearance came after the original panel had already established the format, making her part of the show's second major generation of investors.
Her business background includes family enterprises and tourism, and she later became associated with investments made through televised pitches. As with every Dragon, an on-screen offer is not automatically the same as a completed deal: negotiations can continue after filming, and some agreements do not proceed.
Meaden is sometimes confused with the original female Dragon, Rachel Elnaugh, who appeared in the early panel. Their tenures overlap only in the broader history of the programme, not as identical founding roles. Meaden's arrival helped establish the rotating investor structure that later became central to Dragons' Den.
