Which instrument group did Masato Honda contribute to Mario Kart World’s soundtrack?

The story behind the answer

Masato Honda contributed wind instruments to Mario Kart World’s soundtrack.

Honda, a member of the Japanese jazz-fusion group T-Square, provided wind-instrument overdubs for the game’s music. Drummer Satoshi Bandoh, also from T-Square, contributed drums, so the two musicians brought different instrumental roles to the project.

The soundtrack was composed by Nintendo’s music team under Atsuko Asahi, with Maasa Miyoshi, Takuhiro Honda, and Yutaro Takakuwa also involved. Nintendo additionally collaborated with outside composers and performers, including members of the jazz-fusion band Dezolve.

Mario Kart World uses dynamic transitions in modes such as Knockout Tour, where players travel continuously through multiple environments. Its Free Roam system also draws from a large library of rearranged music, making the external instrumental contributions part of a broad, highly varied score.
