Ice Age: Continental Drift introduced the pirate ship captain Gutt. Gutt is an ape-like pirate who commands a crew encountered by Manny, Sid, and Diego after continental movement separates them from the herd.

The film’s story uses shifting landmasses and ocean travel to move the characters into a maritime adventure. Gutt initially acts as an antagonist, while the pirate crew includes characters such as Shira and Squint.

Gutt should not be confused with Captain Chantel DuBois, the antagonist of the later spin-off The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild. Continental Drift is the fourth main Ice Age feature and was released in 2012.
