Ellie is the female woolly mammoth and Manny’s mate in the Ice Age films.
Ellie first appears in Ice Age: The Meltdown, where she lives with the possums Crash and Eddie. She initially believes she is a possum because she was raised alongside them, but later learns that she is a mammoth. Her meeting with Manny develops into the franchise’s main mammoth family relationship.
Ellie and Manny become parents to Peaches in Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Their family continues through later films, including Collision Course, where Peaches’ engagement creates a new stage in their lives.
Ellie is sometimes confused with Peaches because both are female mammoths. Peaches is Manny and Ellie’s daughter, while Shira is a saber-toothed cat introduced in Continental Drift. Roshan is the human baby from the original film and is unrelated to the mammoth family.
