Semi Ajayi scored Hull City’s first goal in their 2–0 win over Manchester United during the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
Ajayi struck in the 17th minute at Hull’s MKM Stadium. His finish gave the newly promoted side an early lead against Manchester United, before Nobel Mendy added a second goal before half-time.
The victory was historically significant for Hull. It was their first Premier League win over Manchester United and their first league victory against the club since 1974, when both teams were in the old Second Division.
Ajayi’s goal is sometimes confused with Mendy’s because both players scored before the interval. Mendy, however, scored Hull’s second goal, while Ajayi opened the scoring.
