Destiny’s Child
Answer
Destiny’s Child
Beyoncé co-founded the Houston singing group Destiny’s Child in the 1990s.
The group began in 1990 as Girl’s Tyme, a Houston-based girl group assembled by Beyoncé and other young performers. After appearing on the television program Star Search in 1993, the group underwent lineup and name changes before becoming Destiny’s Child.
The best-known lineup consisted of Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams. Destiny’s Child became one of the most successful female groups in music history, with songs including “Say My Name,” “Bills, Bills, Bills,” and “Survivor.”
The group’s early recording deal was with Columbia Records, and its self-titled debut album appeared in 1998. Destiny’s Child announced a temporary hiatus in 2002, reunited for later performances, and officially disbanded in 2006. Beyoncé’s work with the group preceded her solo career, which began with the album Dangerously in Love in 2003.
