Answer
Kingston Town
Answer
Kingston Town
Kingston Town won the Cox Plate three consecutive times from 1980 to 1982.
The Australian gelding captured the W. S. Cox Plate at Moonee Valley in 1980, 1981 and 1982. He became the first horse to win the weight-for-age championship three times, a record that made him one of Australia’s most celebrated middle-distance performers.
Kingston Town was trained by George Hanlon and ridden by several jockeys during his career, including Malcolm Johnston in his three Cox Plate victories. He was especially effective at Moonee Valley, where the tight circuit and short straight rewarded tactical speed and positioning.
His achievement is distinct from Winx’s later record of four consecutive Cox Plate wins from 2015 to 2018. The Cox Plate, now known as the W. S. Cox Plate, was first run in 1922 and is named after Victoria Racing Club chairman William Samuel Cox.
