Which horse won the 2023 Epsom Derby at Epsom Downs?

Auguste Rodin won the 2023 Epsom Derby at Epsom Downs.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained colt took the Group 1 classic over one and a half miles on 3 June 2023. Jockey Ryan Moore rode him to victory for owners associated with Coolmore, giving O’Brien another Derby success.

Auguste Rodin had already won the 2022 Vertem Futurity Trophy as a two-year-old. His Derby victory made him a leading example of a horse succeeding over the demanding Epsom course, whose contours include the famous downhill section and the sharp left-handed Tattenham Corner.

The result is sometimes confused with the 2023 Prix du Jockey Club, won by Ace Impact, or the 2023 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, won by Hukum. Those were different races and meetings.
