Tiger Roll won the 2018 Grand National and completed back-to-back victories in 2019.
Trained by Gordon Elliott, Tiger Roll first won at Aintree in 2018 under jockey Davy Russell. He returned the following year and became the first horse since Red Rum in 1974 to win consecutive Grand Nationals.
Tiger Roll’s achievement is distinct from Red Rum’s overall record of three victories. The Grand National was not staged in 2020 or 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, so Tiger Roll did not have the opportunity to pursue a third straight win in those years.
The 2018 victory also followed Tiger Roll’s success in the 2018 Cross Country Chase at Cheltenham. His versatility across different forms of National Hunt racing made his Grand National record especially notable.
