Sea the Stars won both the 2000 Guineas and Epsom Derby in 2009.

Bred in Ireland and trained by John Oxx, Sea the Stars began his three-year-old campaign by winning the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on 2 May 2009. He then won the Epsom Derby on 6 June, becoming the first horse since Nashwan in 1989 to win both races.

The colt continued his campaign with victories in the Eclipse Stakes, International Stakes, Irish Champion Stakes and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. He retired after the 2009 season with six straight Group 1 victories.

Sea the Stars is often compared with his half-brother Galileo, who won the Derby but did not win the 2000 Guineas. Their sire was Cape Cross.
