Which Hogwarts house was founded by Rowena Ravenclaw in J.K. Rowling’s books?

The story behind the answer

Rowena Ravenclaw founded Ravenclaw, one of the four Hogwarts houses in J.K. Rowling’s books. The house is associated especially with intelligence, learning, creativity, and wit.

Ravenclaw was one of the four original houses established by the Hogwarts founders: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Salazar Slytherin, and Rowena Ravenclaw. Its emblem is an eagle in the novels, although some film imagery uses blue and bronze or blue and silver visual traditions differently.

Rowena’s daughter, Helena Ravenclaw, became the Grey Lady, the house ghost. The Ravenclaw diadem is also a significant object in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Ravenclaw is sometimes associated with a raven because of its name, but the canonical house emblem is an eagle. The house’s identity therefore combines its founder’s name with ideals of knowledge and originality.
