Weekday was founded in 2002 by four Swedish entrepreneurs.
The brand began as a small retail concept connected with the Scandinavian streetwear scene. Its founders were Örjan Andersson, Adam Friberg, Linda Friberg and Christine Holmborn. The original concept was associated with Weekday Brands, which also included other labels and retail ideas.
H&M Group acquired a majority stake in the company in 2008. Weekday then became part of the group’s broader portfolio, alongside brands such as Monki and Cheap Monday. Its identity has centered on contemporary youth fashion, denim, streetwear and collaborations.
Weekday is sometimes confused with Cheap Monday because both became linked within the same retail structure. They are separate brands, and Weekday itself dates to 2002. The H&M Group acquisition came later, in 2008, so the founding year and ownership year should not be treated as the same date.
