Which historical sea is the main region explored in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag?
Answer
Caribbean Sea
Answer
Caribbean Sea
The Caribbean Sea is the main region explored in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.
Released in 2013, Black Flag follows Edward Kenway, a Welsh privateer who becomes involved with both the Assassins and Templars during the Golden Age of Piracy. Its open world covers parts of the Caribbean, including the islands and coastal settlements around Havana, Nassau, and Kingston.
Naval travel is central to the game. Edward commands the Jackdaw, upgrades its hull and weapons, boards rival ships, hunts sea creatures, and searches for treasure. This expands the naval mechanics introduced in Assassin's Creed III into a much larger part of the experience.
The game is set mainly in the early eighteenth century, when piracy and colonial competition shaped the region. It is sometimes described simply as a Caribbean game, but the Caribbean Sea is the geographic name that best identifies its principal setting. Black Flag also presents historical pirates such as Blackbeard, Charles Vane, and Anne Bonny.
