Which historical city does Assassin's Creed Mirage primarily portray?

The story behind the answer

Baghdad is the historical city primarily portrayed in Assassin's Creed Mirage.

Mirage is set in ninth-century Baghdad during the Islamic Golden Age. The game follows Basim Ibn Ishaq as he develops from a street thief into a Hidden One. Baghdad provides the principal urban environment, with districts, markets, scholarly institutions, and political locations connected by rooftops and crowded streets.

The story takes place during the Abbasid Caliphate, under the rule of the caliph al-Mu'tasim. Historical figures and institutions appear alongside fictional characters, as is typical of the series. The game uses a stylized interpretation of the city rather than claiming to reproduce every detail with documentary accuracy.

Baghdad is sometimes confused with Damascus because Damascus is a prominent city in the original Assassin's Creed. Constantinople is central to Assassin's Creed Revelations, while Cairo appears in other series material. Mirage deliberately returns to a more compact city-focused structure.
