Which Hermès fragrance, created by Jean-Claude Ellena, was launched in 2006?

The story behind the answer

Jean-Claude Ellena created Terre d'Hermès, the Hermès fragrance launched in 2006.

The scent was developed for Hermès as a woody, citrus and mineral composition. Its concept links earth, air and travel, ideas that fit the company's long association with leather goods, saddlery and journeys.

Terre d'Hermès is often described through grapefruit, cedar and vetiver facets, although exact note descriptions depend on the concentration and edition. Eau de toilette, parfum and other flankers should not be treated as identical formulas.

Ellena served as Hermès's in-house perfumer for many years and became especially associated with transparent, restrained compositions. The perfume's title is sometimes translated informally as “Earth of Hermes,” but its official name remains Terre d'Hermès.
