Louis Vuitton introduced the Speedy as a smaller everyday counterpart to its Keepall travel bag.
The Keepall was designed for travel, while the Speedy adapted its soft construction and rounded handles to daily use. The bag became especially associated with Louis Vuitton’s Monogram canvas, which was created in the late nineteenth century to distinguish the house’s luggage.
The Speedy is often identified by its cylindrical shape, double handles, top zipper, and compact proportions. Several sizes and materials exist, so “Speedy” does not refer to only one physical dimension.
A common mix-up is confusing the Speedy with the Alma. The Alma is a more structured, dome-shaped Louis Vuitton handbag, whereas the Speedy is notably soft and luggage-inspired.
