Mike Schmidt joined Steve Carlton as a Phillies representative at the 2026 MLB Field of Dreams Game.
Schmidt and Carlton were the two Hall of Famers identified with Philadelphia during the pregame gathering. Both are among the most important players in Phillies history: Schmidt was the franchise’s iconic third baseman, while Carlton was its dominant left-handed pitcher.
Their appearance helped connect the current Phillies team with earlier eras of the franchise. Philadelphia wore uniforms inspired by its 1939–41 road uniforms, so the ceremony and the clothing both emphasized the club’s historical identity.
The larger group also included Hall of Famers connected with Minnesota, including Joe Mauer, Bert Blyleven and Jim Kaat. Other legends had ties to one or both organizations, but Schmidt and Carlton were the pair specifically representing the Phillies in the ceremony.
