Shaun Pulfrey presented the Tangle Teezer hair-styling product on the British show Dragons' Den.
Pulfrey developed Tangle Teezer after working on a design intended to remove knots from hair while causing less pulling and breakage than conventional brushes. The product uses flexible teeth arranged to move through tangled hair, and it was initially aimed at both professional stylists and home users.
His appearance on Dragons' Den helped bring the invention to a large television audience. Although the pitch did not produce the investment he wanted, the company later expanded internationally and sold the product through many beauty and retail channels.
The name is sometimes confused with a brand of heated straighteners or with a salon's generic detangling brush. Tangle Teezer is a specific brand and product line, recognised for its compact, moulded designs and flexible teeth rather than for using heat.
