Which Guns N' Roses member sings lead vocals on 'So Fine'?

Duff McKagan sings lead vocals on Guns N’ Roses’ “So Fine.” The bassist wrote the song, which appears on the 1991 album Use Your Illusion II.

The track is a tribute to Johnny Thunders, the New York Dolls and Heartbreakers musician who died in 1991. McKagan also played bass, while Axl Rose provides the introduction’s lead vocal lines, a detail that can cause confusion about who sings the song proper.

“So Fine” was released as a promotional single in 1992, and McKagan regularly performed it during the Use Your Illusion Tour. Its personnel also included Slash on lead guitar, Izzy Stradlin on rhythm guitar and Matt Sorum on drums.

A later Guns N’ Roses tribute to Thunders appeared on The Spaghetti Incident?: McKagan played all the instruments and sang lead on the band’s cover of “You Can’t Put Your Arms Around a Memory.”
