Which gulf is located off the coast of Thailand and Cambodia?

The story behind the answer

The gulf located off the coasts of Thailand and Cambodia is the Gulf of Thailand.

The Gulf of Thailand is a shallow inlet of the South China Sea in Southeast Asia. Thailand borders much of its northern, western, and southwestern coastline, while Cambodia occupies part of the northeastern shore. The gulf also reaches Vietnam and Malaysia, and it opens southeastward into the South China Sea.

The gulf is roughly 800 kilometres long and covers about 320,000 square kilometres. It is relatively shallow, with an average depth of around 58 metres and a maximum depth of approximately 85 metres. Rivers including the Chao Phraya, Mae Klong, and Bang Pakong carry freshwater and sediment into its northern reaches, reducing salinity and supporting productive coastal ecosystems.

The name Gulf of Siam is a historical name, not a separate body of water. Siam was Thailand's former international name, and Thailand officially replaced it in 1939. The gulf is home to important fishing grounds, coral reefs, mangroves, and popular islands such as Ko Samui, Ko Pha Ngan, Ko Tao, and Ko Chang.
