Gran Turismo HD Concept was a PlayStation 3 preview released as a free PlayStation Store download on December 24, 2006. Unlike full Gran Turismo games, it contained only one track, making Eiger Nordwand especially central to the demo.

The fictional mountain-pass circuit takes its setting and visual inspiration from Kleine Scheidegg, a Swiss pass between Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen. Its scenery includes views toward the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau peaks. The name Eiger Nordwand means “Eiger north face,” referring to the famous climbing face of the Eiger.

A common mix-up is treating Kleine Scheidegg and Eiger Nordwand as interchangeable names. Kleine Scheidegg is the real-world location; Eiger Nordwand is the fictional Gran Turismo track.
